Wanted to share some mid-modern love. Got this little gem at City Issue this weekend. It’s circa early 70s and probably Scandinavian. Not really sure what it is – maybe a Viking ship. That’s the beauty of abstract – it is whatever you want it to be and something different to everyone who sees it.
Here is a pattern I made awhile ago that I just put into perfect repeat. Working on extending this look into another collection. I think it would work swimmingly for linen tea towels.
I’m a big fan of 50s decorative art glass. The clean simple lines almost remind me of fashion figures. Over the years I’ve acquired various pieces from family and thrift stores and mixed them with retro inspired pieces from IKEA. And thus my homage to mid-modern glass forms a pattern.
Thought it appropriate to share this little gem in honor of Mother’s Day. She looked like Laura Petrie from the Dick Van Dyke show. I can still hear her saying “Here, have a pop”.

Ahhh, back when a healthy dose of grease in the veins was thought of as good for you. Can’t cook without Crisco! After little Billy polishes off that plate of doughnuts he’ll be stuck to the ceiling and out of your hair. Looks like the fried bird nests didn’t go over too well… is that vomit on the side?
